Mahdia

Me quedaba contaros alguna cosilla de mi viaje a Túnez!

El viernes, aprovechando que era el día en que ponían el gran mercadillo (:P), nos fuimos a ver Mahdia. Una recepcionista del hotel llamó a un taxista, quien nos llevó de visita turística por toda la ciudad, haciéndonos fotos y todo, explicándonos las cosas (aunque en francés)... por tan sólo 7€ (15 dinares)!

Y así vimos la Puerta de Mahdia, un bonito arco en ruinas que contrasta con el mar de fondo. Desde esa zona, se puede ver el mar rodeándote por todos lados.. unas vistas preciosas!

Here is another post of mi travel to Tunisia. On Friday, we went to the city (Mahdia) with a taxi driver, who showed us all the interesting places, explaining its history, making photographs for us... for just 15 dinars!

This way we saw the Mahdia Gate, a breath-taking arch that contrasts with the sea behind. At this place, you can see the sea surround you.. such beautful views!

Muchas de las casas, así como el faro, estaban pintadas de blanco y con las ventanas, puertas y detalles en azul intenso. La verdad es que queda muy bonito, le aporta unidad y un especial encanto.

Lots of the houses and also the lighthouse were painted in white and blue. It's characteristic of there and it's really beautiful, giving unity at the landscape and making it charming.

Otro de los puntos a visitar en Mahdia es su fortaleza frente al mar. Está muy bien cuidada, con la piedra muy muy limpia, al igual el el Coliseo del Djem.

Another place to visit in Mahdia is its fortress, in front of the sea. The stones are really clean.

THE MARKET / EL MERCADILLO

Mercadillo, o "mercadazo", porque era increíblemente enorme. Primero entramos en un de pasadizo de piedra precioso, dentro del cual vendían ropa tradicional y zapatos. Era muy curioso de ver, y el lugar, una pasada.

It was really, really big. First of all, we entered a beautiful stone passage, where they selled traditional clothing and shoes. The place was amazing and the pieces, very interesting.

Tras esto, salimos a la calle en la que estaban los puestos de piedras preciosas, colgantes, brazaletes, etc. Era el paraíso!

Allí encontré unas piezas magníficas (con corales, turquesas, amatistas, perlas, plata...) a muy buen precio. Al final del post os enseño todo lo que me compré ;) aunque la verdad es que ahora me arrepiento de no haber comprado más cositas..

After that, we went into the street with the jewels' shops. Precious stones, coral, turquoise, pearl, silver, amethyst... everything was amazing!! At the end of this post I'll show you everything I got there. BTW, now I regret not having bought more things...

Seguimos caminando y nos encontramos con otra sorpresa... la zona de las telas. Puestos y más puestos con tejidos colgando, la mayoría de ellos estampados y con su combinado liso al lado.

We continued walking and then we found another surprise... the fabrics' area. Lots of fabrics, most of them printed and with the combined plain one aside.

Y ahora, mis compras... And here, what I bought!

Bereber brazalet and necklace - Brazalete y collar de metal bereber

Three bracelets: a turquoise one, another more in orange coral and the last one, in mustard colour and with a cute silver detail.

Tres pulseras: una de piedra turquesa, otra con corales pequeñitos en color naranja y por último, una en color mostaza (cuero) con un detalle muy bonito en plata.
